Canada v Kenya

Ashish Bagai, Canada
Ashish Bagai is Canada’s captain, wicketkeeper and most consistent top-order batsman. Diminutive and light on his feet, Bagai remains a safe glove-man, but persistent knee trouble has slowed his running between the wickets. In a full-strength team, Bagai plays the role of anchor, rotating the strike and steadily accumulating his runs. An orthodox batsman, Bagai will nudge and nurdle his way out of a box rather than go for the big hit. A veteran of two previous World Cup campaigns, this will be his first time leading Canada on cricket’s biggest stage and in no less than the country of his birth.
Jimmy Kamande, Kenya
Jimmy Kamande has had a varied career, and best player in the team starting as a seamer, reinventing himself as an offspinner after being reported for having a suspect action, and now emerging as something of an allrounder, albeit one not really good enough to warrant a place on either discipline alone. Recently appointed captain, his biggest challenge will be bringing together a disparate and disillusioned side.
